On first night in Heidelberg we ate at Hemingway’s Meeting Place. It was a nice restaurant. We also stayed in their pension. It had great food and nice rooms. The rooms overlooked the Neckar river and the bridge to old town was right outside the entrance. The bridge is very cool and everything we wanted to do in Heidelberg was within walking distance of the hotel.
Here’s a quick video someone on youtube took of the restaurant.
Back in 1993, Esther and I stayed at the Hotel Krone Assmannshausen / Rüdesheim-Assmannshausen. We loved it. I remember waking up our first night of our German honeymoon and setting at the window desk watching the ships in the river and looking at Esther sleep in bed. She had major jet lag. I had been traveling with EDS to Europe the last year so I was used to the travel. We did not take this video but shows a ton of highlights we saw around our hotel.
