LG Infinia 60PZ950 60-Inch 1080p 600Hz Active 3D THX Certified Plasma HDTV with TruBlack Filter and Smart TVI am starting my research for a new HDTV Flat Panel Television for our home theater in our family room.  I narrowed my search down to 60″ inch flat panel tvs based on our room size.  I also prefer plasma for viewing sports.

I like these three plasma flat panel 3D internet ready HDTV televisions:

  1. Panasonic VIERA TC-P65GT30 65-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV
  2. LG Infinia 60PZ950 60-Inch 1080p 600Hz Active 3D THX Certified Plasma HDTV with TruBlack Filter and Smart TV
  3. Samsung PN59D8000 59-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Plasma HDTV (Black)
The three are all around $1500 and have very similar specs.  Plus they are all rated highly in customer reviews and the major consumer reports magazine.  The brands are reliable television brands and have a history of HDTV excellence.

We have owned Panasonic TVs in the past and found that they did not last as long as we hoped.  I’ve owned several Panasonic VCRs and DVD players with little trouble.  We have a two year old Samsung 720 HDTV in our game room and we really love the picture quality even though its 720.  We have never owned an LG product but the LG HDTV above is the most interesting of the three brands to me.  I still want to review the Sharp and Vizio TVs a little more since we have had very positive experiences with those brands but they were not rating higher in the HDTV ratings than the three HDTVs above.

So if you are like me and looking for the  Best HDTV Plasma Flat Panel 60″ Television that is a Top Rated TVs from Panasonic, LG and Samsung 3D TV sets take a look at the models above.  As soon as our 4 year old 60 inch Vizio dies, I will be ordering one of the above 3D plasma internet ready HDTV television sets.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Festivus Cheers

Subwoofer for Home Theater

October 4, 2011

My old subwoofer went out last year and I’ve been looking for a new subwoofer. The sound quality of my home stereo theater system is so much better with a bass speaker. I like the Yamaha, Klipsche, and the Onkyo subwoofers.

The Polk PSW10 fills in the bottom end of your home theater system. Relieve your main speakers from performing bass duty and let them work on the mids and highs. PSW10 is a great addition to any subwooferless system and will bring your movie watching experience to the next level.

What are you using as a bass speaker in your home theater system? Leave me a comment below.

You can see more about my picks for a new subwoofer below. I will be adding one of these subwoofers to my Christmas list for 2011.

Sony AV Receiver Home Theater
I am ready to upgrade my old JVC AV receiver with a new AV receiver with HDMI inputs.  I have been looking around a lot of the last year and I keep coming across the Sony AV receivers.  They seem to have the best bag for the buck and have a great name behind them. I think I am adding the Sony STRDH820 7.2 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black) to my Christmas Wish List.

New LED-LCD HDTV Television Flat Panel

My old Vizio plasma from Sam’s is feeling its age.  Every now and then it gets hot and turns off.  We have been lucky with this model because its outlived most of its brothers and sisters.  When we bought the Vizio the flat panels were just getting popular and I really wanted a Sharp Aquos, because my parents had a few Sharp TVs and they lasted forever.  But, the SharpAquos was out of our tv budget at the time and the Vizio has worked out great in the interim.

Now that we have some experience under our belt with HDTV plasma and LCD televisions, we are looking to upgrade the Vizio soon with a new TV in the family den.  The new Sharp Aquos Quattron 60 inch or 52 inch are looking pretty sweet for my den viewing pleasure.  Prices are coming down and the reviews are great.

Just one more item on my electronics Christmas Wish List.

Tablet PC Reviews Buy Top Best One?

Kindle Fire A Tablet PC would be nice to have for web browsing on the couch.  So a few weeks ago I was really upset with myself for not getting a $99 HP Touchpad tablet PC when HP dumped the price and sold out in about 24 hours.  I have my email in for a HP TouchPad product inventory update but I am not holding my breath.  I just heard HP employees brought down their internal servers trying to order the latest batch in inventory.

It’s not like I need a Tablet PC.  I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop on the coffee table and browse the web while watching TV already.  I think the draw is the small palm size form factor and the newness of the cool tablet pc products.  I really want to research the following brands and products

  1. Amazon Kindle Fire
  2. Toshiba Thrive
  3. Apple iPad
  4. HP TouchPad
  5. Samsung Galaxy
  6. RIM Blackberry Playbook

I was leaning to the Playbook tablet pc since I carry a Blackberry Torch but not sure about RIM at this point.  Of course I love the iPad but I had issues reading Yahoo business mail with it.  Probably Yahoo issues.  I love my Toshiba laptop and really like the features of the Toshiba Thrive tablet, plus they are releasing a 7 inch version soon.  Not sure about the Samsung Galaxy tablet.  It seems pricey. The Kindle Fire looks very interesting as a content delivery device like the iPad tablet, and you gotta love the price.  I need to continue to do a little more research on the Fire, Thrive and iPad before making a final decision.

Stay tuned as I start my Tablet reviews and research so I will have my Christmas Wish list ready.  I want a tablet PC for Christmas.  There I said it.  :)

Best Blu Ray Disc Player DVD 3D Wifi Amazon Instant Video

I need to upgrade to a new 3D Blu Ray player from either Panasonic, Sony or LG and send my old Panasonic blu-ray disc player up to the boys play room, since their XBOX does not play blue-ray dvds. I spent the last two hours reviewing the current affordable blu ray player offerings from Samsung, Oppo, Sony, LG. Sharp, and Panasonic. I stayed in the under $250 retail consumer market and did not go for the high end players. Esther does not understand the high end electronics market or see the difference. She may be right for the majority of us looking for the best blu ray player for the price.

I started my blue-ray player research at the usual suspects for electronic research information sites and ecommerce sites with large consumer product reviews. I narrowed the list of best blu ray players down by the top 10 lists, 5 star product ratings, % of low user reviews, and high rated editor picks. The top Blu Ray DVD disc player is by far the OPPO BDP-93 Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Disc Player. I know this player is $500 but every site rates this high end player as the top blu ray disc player. If you have the budget and really want the top end player, your probably want to buy the OPPP BDP-93. But if you are like me the three manufacturers with the most blue ray players in my research are Sony, Panasonic and LG. Many of their players are similar with differences in wifi ethernet ready or built in wireless, 3d / 2d, internet capabilities, hard drive hd storage, hdmi outs, and audio 7.1, 5.1 or stereo. You really just need to figure out your feature mix and then start your comparisons like I did.

I was looking for the following features in my new blu ray disc player:

  1. wifi ready (already own network adapter)
  2. Netflix, Pandora, Amazon Instant Video, Picasa, Youtube capable
  3. HDMI
  4. Digital Audio Out and HDMI
  5. Major Brand
  6. Under $250

After more than two hours fussing over my results I am picking my top three blu ray vidio players that I will purchase as of June 2011.

  1. Panasonic DMP-BDT210 3D Blu-ray DVD Player
  2. Sony BDP-S580 Blu-ray Disc Player
  3. LG BD690 3D Wireless Network Blu-ray Disc Player

Buy the best affordable top Blu Ray Disc Player on the market from Sony, LG, Panasonic with DVD upconversion, 3D, Wifi, Amazon Instant Video, Netflix and more.
